Shakes Sold to Nursing Homes Recalled After Deadly Listeria Outbreak
Briefly

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of frozen shakes sold to nursing homes, hospitals, and other institutions, due to their link to a deadly listeria outbreak that has resulted in at least 11 fatalities since 2018. Most cases involved individuals in long-term care facilities. Investigations beginning in November 2024 revealed that these frozen drinks, manufactured by Lyons ReadyCare and distributed by Sysco Imperial, contained the lethal bacteria, Listeria monocytogenes.
