Coca-Cola is venturing into the 'better for you' soda category with its new product, Simply Pop, which is designed to support gut health through prebiotics. This launch comes as a direct response to the growing popularity of brands like Poppi and Olipop. Becca Kerr, the CEO of Coca-Cola's nutrition unit, noted the increased consumer interest in this segment. The introduction of Simply Pop is part of Coca-Cola's broader goal to diversify its offerings beyond traditional sodas, leveraging the reputation of its 21-year-old Simply brand to appeal to health-conscious consumers.
"We saw the prebiotic soda space really emerging as an area of interest for consumers, and we were paying really close attention to it," said Becca Kerr, CEO of Coca-Cola's nutrition unit.
"After watching from the sidelines, Coke clearly has determined that the gut soda segment has legs," Duane Stanford, editor and publisher of Beverage Digest, told CNN.
