"I am so saddened to read this. I go there almost weekly. The food has always been outstanding with so many innovative menu options. The service is so genuinely warm and attentive. I always feel so welcome. This phenomenal institution will be immeasurably missed, and I wish the best to the owners and the many staff who have worked so hard to provide a consistent top-notch dining experience."
FuGaKyu in Coolidge Corner will cease operations effective Nov. 5, 2025 after 27 years. The owner cited personal reasons in a Facebook announcement and expressed gratitude to patrons for shared memories. FuGaKyu opened in 1998 and previously operated additional locations in Lynnfield and Sudbury that later closed. Social media responses included longtime diners recalling first visits, favorite dishes such as the Ika tobiko appetizer, and praise for innovative menus and warm service. The closure prompted an outpouring of memories and well-wishes for owners and staff, and readers were invited to share their own experiences via survey or email.
