Recent recalls affect multiple brands of canned tuna sold in stores like H-E-B, Trader Joe's, and Costco due to a potential botulism risk. Tri-Union Seafoods voluntarily recalled products after discovering a defect in the pull tab design that could compromise the product seal. Affected brands include H-E-B, Trader Joe's, Genova, and Van Camp. While no illnesses have been reported, consumers are urged to check their products against the FDA's list and not to consume any affected tuna, even if it appears fine.
If you suspect you purchased one of the products, check the universal product code, or UPC, and best-by date on the can and cross reference them with the impacted list on the FDA's website.
The tuna was recalled out of an 'abundance of caution following the notification from our supplier,' the company said.
