"The sustainability-focused restaurant chain was launched in 2006 in San Francisco after co-founders Leslie and David Silverglide got the idea when they were craving a quick, fresh meal on their way back from Lake Tahoe, according to its website. "Opening in San Mateo is an exciting milestone for Mixt. Not only will this be our twentieth location, we are also celebrating 20 years," said Leslie Silverglide, Mixt co-founder and CEO, in a press release."
"During its opening week, the Mixt team in San Mateo will be serving up an array of freebies and promotions. Here's what's scheduled so far, according to spokesperson Laura Shelton. These promotions are based on supply limitations and subject to terms, she says. Tuesday, March 3: Receive a free Mixt Baggu-brand bag and a complimentary Orangetheory class with your entree purchase. Wednesday, March 4: Receive a custom mini cupcake from Sibby's Cupcakery in San Mateo with your entree purchase. Thursday, March 4: Scan a QR Code at the register and receive a free first Bodyrok class, and enter a raffle to win a class three-pack."
Mixt will open a new San Mateo location on March 3, marking its twentieth site and the chain's 20th anniversary. The restaurant emphasizes sustainability and began in 2006 in San Francisco after co-founders Leslie and David Silverglide conceived the concept returning from Lake Tahoe. Opening-week promotions include branded giveaways, complimentary fitness classes, pastries with purchases, a raffle, a neighborhood scavenger hunt, a claw machine of prizes, and a drawing for free Mixt for a year. The new location occupies the former B Street Books space and joins other Bay Area and Texas locations.
