"My first viral video ever was actually with my dad and it was in response to a hate comment. It was a video where someone commented, 'Oh wow, you're Persian, you're queer and non-binary. What age did your dad leave you?' A really negative thing to say. And I was like, 'Oh my God, my dad edited the video before this. Why don't I just bring him in?' So we did, I put my phone down and I think [the video] got 7 million views overnight."
"It's a performance. And I think part of it is maintaining my authenticity as a human and who I am, but then also performing for the camera, which is my favorite thing to do. Creating and developing characters, which happened accidentally, is how I ended up becoming strong at it."
"Finding the places where I could incorporate my organic voice into joy and into characters has been my focus. I started to build that character online and it became this sort of intersection between myself and a performance."
