In December 2015, Scott Harrison recognized his unhealthy habits when he compared himself to other parents at school pickup. This awakening prompted him to lose weight by emphasizing whole foods, understanding caloric content without strict counting, and allowing treats. Over the years, his previous lifestyle as a banker, filled with indulgent meals and excessive alcohol, contributed to his weight gain. Now, at 51, Harrison maintains his physique through balanced eating and has started a business to guide others in achieving similar goals without sacrificing enjoyment.
"What example was that setting for their children?" Scott Harrison reflects on his realization that he too was among unhealthy parents, prompting a personal health transformation.
"I would be taken out by brokers all the time and could choose any restaurant. My alcohol consumption was horrifically bad," says Harrison on his previous unhealthy lifestyle.
"You don't realize alcohol has a gazillion calories," Harrison explains, highlighting how common misconceptions around food and drink can contribute to weight gain.
Harrison emphasizes not eliminating treats from his diet to maintain balance, demonstrating that moderation is integral for sustainable health.
