Starlink competition is ramping up in Ukraine
Briefly

Eutelsat has been a significant player in providing satellite internet to Ukraine amid ongoing conflicts, thanks to funding from the German government. Their service, operated by the OneWeb division, uses low-orbit satellites and terrestrial terminals, similar to SpaceX's Starlink, which currently dominates the market with approximately 50,000 terminals funded primarily by Poland and the US. Eutelsat CEO Eva Berneke announced plans to boost their presence in Ukraine dramatically, increasing the number of terminals to potentially 10,000. The company is also exploring collaborations with the EU to develop a secure satellite constellation.
Eutelsat, aided by German funding, has supplied Ukraine with critical internet access through low-orbit satellites, offering competition to SpaceX's Starlink.
Eutelsat aims to expand its presence in Ukraine with 5,000 to 10,000 additional terminals, pending further funding discussions with Germany and other sources.
