The article discusses the ongoing trend of remote work post-COVID-19 and how many workers aspire to travel while working. VisaGuide.World has ranked the best countries for digital nomads, with Spain topping the list for the second consecutive year due to its favorable remote work visa requirements and appealing lifestyle features. The country's healthcare, tourism appeal, and relatively low income requirements for the visa contribute to its attractiveness. Additionally, Spain will allow families to join primary applicants in 2024, further enhancing its appeal for long-term stays.
"Digital nomads prefer sunny weather and welcoming places with many tourists," Lum Kamishi, project manager at VisaGuide.World, tells CNBC Make It.
"Spain is a tourist heaven. It has great health care, low minimum income requirements for visa, average taxes," Kamishi says.
Applicants must have no criminal record in Spain or anywhere else for five years before applying, health insurance, a one-year employment contract with a company outside of Spain and at least three years of work experience or a college degree in their field.
In 2024, Spain announced it was allowing spouses and families to join successful applicants of the digital nomad visa.
