Met Éireann predicts Ireland will experience peak temperatures of up to 25C today, potentially breaking the all-time April record of 25.8C set in 1984. Local areas have reported significant warmth like Newport at 25.7C, while the rest of the week promises sunny conditions, though some showers might occur mainly in the west and midlands. Forecaster Michelle Dillon indicated that warmer weather will continue through the bank holiday weekend. While temperatures will dip slightly by Friday, they remain above average for this time of year.
"We're in for another warm day today," she told RTÉ Radio One's Morning Ireland, "and we could come close to that all-time April record of 25.8C, which was recorded in the Glenties, Co Donegal, back in 1984."
Met Éireann confirmed today will be the warmest day of the year so far and it will "keep a close watch if we break the national April highest temperature record."
