Northern Ireland captain Jonny Evans has announced his immediate retirement from international football, concluding a remarkable international career spanning since 2006 with 107 caps.
Evans, reflecting on his time in the national team, stated that representing the people of Northern Ireland and donning the green shirt 107 times has been his biggest honour.
He highlighted his participation in Euro 2016 as the peak of his career, saying that reaching the major tournament was a dream come true for him.
With Evans' retirement following the exit of record cap holder Steve Davis, Northern Ireland’s manager Michael O'Neill will soon announce the squad for the upcoming Nations League games.
