We have 5 kids and live on my husband's public school salary. We have no way of saving for their college education.
Briefly

We have no plans to pay for our kids' college educations because we simply can't afford it. We both come from families that couldn't pay for college.
Despite having a Master's and 16 years of teaching, my husband's income is below the poverty level for our family. Funding five children's college educations is not possible.
We both believe there are creative ways that teens can at least partly fund their college degrees outside of family money, and we encourage our children to seek those opportunities.
Learning to pay your own way brings benefits; while I wish to take the burden of student debt away, figuring out finances is also an important life lesson.
