Trials to restrict traffic around Hornchurch schools proposed
Briefly

Havering Council is proposing the introduction of trial School Streets Zones around Hornchurch High School and Towers Infant and Junior Schools to enhance road safety and air quality. The initiative is under consultation to gauge residents' feedback.
The proposed School Streets Zones would restrict motorized traffic during crucial drop-off and pick-up times, allowing only residents, school staff, and emergency vehicles, aiming to create a safer environment for students.
Signage detailing the operation times will be installed at entry points to the zones. The enforcement would rely on Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras, which will monitor compliance and issue fines for violations.
Each zone would operate in the morning from 7.45am to 9am and in the afternoon from 2.30pm to 4pm, ensuring minimal disruption while prioritizing pedestrian safety during key school hours.
