After rescinding a controversial plan to close schools, Oakland Unified's newly seated school board is facing a new challenge: balancing a budget that will now cost at least $87 million more than anticipated.Earlier this month, the board voted to rescind the closures of five elementary schools, which because of budget constraints and declining student enrollment the previous board had slated to shutter later this year.
