Neighbors call high-rise proposal north of Santana Row a monstrosity

Residents of San Jose and Santa Clara have rallied against a proposed high-rise development that could soar 197 feet, expressing concerns it will alter their community character. Kevin Golden voiced strong opposition, stating, 'These 17- and 14-story buildings are not suitable for an established single-family neighborhood. This project brings no benefit to the Cory neighborhood or our Santa Clara neighbors. The developers are the only ones benefitting while they forever negatively change the Cory neighborhood.'
VCI Cos.' ambitious high-rise project plans include two towers connected by a skyway, surpassing the height of any current building in the area. Kelly Erardi, the company's director of entitlements, highlighted the project's potential benefits: 'Along with the residential component, we are looking at 15,000 square feet of retail space and 18,800 square feet of privately owned, public open space that would be designed with community feedback. This could revitalize a troubled corner.'
