Mac's Old House, an Italian restaurant famous for its prime rib and minestrone soup, will close on June 22 after 42 years. Rick Cook, the manager, and owner Gary Noe are retiring, marking the end of a significant dining chapter for the community. Established in 1983 but rooted in a legacy that began in 1956, the restaurant has served over three million meals and has weathered many challenges, including recessions and a pandemic. Cook reflects on the bittersweet nature of closing, looking forward to family time and travel while expressing gratitude to loyal customers and staff.
"As difficult as this decision is, all good things must come to an end," management said, reflecting on their long-standing relationship with the community and loyal patrons.
Rick Cook mentioned, "We've not had anyone step in (to continue running the restaurant)... I will definitely miss it, but I am looking forward to missing it."
Mac's Old House has served well over three million meals, and is grateful for its loyal customers and dedicated staff who faced the ups and downs of the restaurant business.
The restaurant has been a staple since 1983, rooted in community connection, and was converted from a family home by Floyd Mac McKinney back in 1956.
