Sam Stevens began his round at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am amid distressing news of a plane crash that claimed 67 lives in Washington D.C., impacting his hometown of Wichita, Kansas. Despite the emotional weight, Stevens played impressively, finishing with a 5-under 67 and positioning himself just three shots behind the leader. While he was concerned about potential acquaintances on the ill-fated flight, he managed to concentrate on his game and showcased resilience by securing a strong performance on the course.
When I teed off, they hadn't come out with the flight list... I've just been thinking about those people and praying for them and their families.
It feels like a small community so you feel like you know everybody... It's likely that I know someone or know someone who knows someone that was on the flight.
