"It was different for me, as was the scenery and the people's attitude. It was the first leap into me changing my attitude and perception," explains Stockton, now 29, who works at SVdP.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has served Contra Costa County for over 60 years, providing essential services such as food, shelter, and workforce development for the underserved.
Stockton's parents, recovering from addiction, moved the family to Lakehead, promising better opportunities. They've instilled in him a desire to help others facing hardships like his own.
