Pedestrian and dog killed in Santa Cruz County hit-and-run ID'd
Briefly

Ryan Fairrington, a 43-year-old pedestrian with no fixed address, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident while walking his dog on Seventh Avenue.
The driver, Pedro Martinez Urbano, turned himself in to police, and faced charges of felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, pleading not guilty.
Defense attorney Manuel Nieto highlighted that Urbano, with a clean record, was a licensed and insured driver who had worked as a cook for three years.
Urbano, age 54, was released on $30,000 bail, reflecting his defense's argument that he was unlikely to flee the area.
