In a plea deal, Donte Green, 43, has agreed to a 16-year prison sentence for the 2018 killing of Marcus Haynes at a homeless encampment in Oakland.
Green pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter, in exchange for which prosecutors dropped a murder charge. He will receive credit for time served since his 2019 arrest.
Witnesses testified that the shooting was preceded by an argument over a phone, with at least one acknowledging that Green went by the nickname 'Pistol'.
The various eyewitness accounts differed slightly; however, they collectively confirmed Green's involvement in the confrontation that led to the shooting.
