A motorcyclist was tragically killed in a two-vehicle collision on the Bay Bridge during the Friday commute. At 2:11 p.m., a Toyota Corolla struck the bike, causing the rider to be thrown into the traffic lanes. Unfortunately, he was then hit by another vehicle that fled the scene. The motorcyclist, a Caucasian male in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Traffic was disrupted temporarily, but the highway was completely reopened by 4:30 p.m. The incident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol and the Alameda County Coroner's Office.
The collision happened at 2:11 p.m. on Highway 80, on the eastbound side of the bridge just west of the toll plaza.
The motorcycle rider was thrown from the bike and landed in the traffic lanes, where he was subsequently hit by another vehicle.
Andrews said the motorcyclist was a Caucasian man in his 30s and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash temporarily closed the fourth and fifth lanes of the eastbound side of the highway, but the roadway was completely open as of 4:30 p.m.
