Live map: Follow the Bay Area rain and Tahoe snow

On Wednesday, March 5, the Bay Area will experience the first of two anticipated rain systems. The National Weather Service reports the heaviest rainfall is expected on the Peninsula and in the South Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains. Following a brief respite on Wednesday afternoon, the second system will arrive early Thursday. Concurrently, the Lake Tahoe area is under a winter weather advisory with forecasts predicting 6 to 12 inches of snow at elevations above 7,000 feet and Yosemite faces a winter storm warning for possible snowfall up to 14 inches.
The National Weather Service predicts that rain will be heaviest on the Peninsula and in the South Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains as two storms are set to impact the Bay Area.
In addition to the rain, a winter weather advisory is in place for Lake Tahoe, expecting significant snowfall over two days.
