Lynsi Snyder, the owner of In-N-Out, stated, 'Out of 365 days, I think [in] almost 300 days there was some type of event, some type of thing in Oakland,' citing ongoing crime issues.
In-N-Out’s chief operating officer, Denny Warnick, noted, 'despite taking repeated steps to create safer conditions,' the restaurant closed due to regular victimization of customers by crime.
Snyder emphasized safety concerns for staff's well-being, stating, 'we just felt like this is not OK and the amount of time it would take for the police to get there, too, was alarming.'
The Oakland Police Department counters the restaurant's concerns, mentioning a '34% overall reduction' in crime rates compared to last year, indicating a more complex situation.
