Highway 24 in Oakland experienced a major disruption due to a reported shooting incident on Tuesday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) closed all eastbound lanes from before 1 pm until nearly 3 pm. During this time, traffic backup extended significantly, impacting nearby I-580 and I-980 as well. Although a sedan was found with gunshot damage, the shooting victim managed to transport themselves to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The highway was reopened around 2:37 pm as officers gathered evidence from the scene.

According to NBC Bay Area, the closure of Highway 24 stretched from Claremont Avenue to Telegraph Avenue and Broadway, backing up traffic on I-580 and I-980.
