On Thursday morning in Oakland's San Antonio neighborhood, a 24-year-old man was shot and succumbed to his injuries early Friday, marking Oakland's 32nd homicide in 2025. Following the shooting around 11:30 am, the victim was able to make it to International Boulevard before collapsing. Witnesses provided police with crucial information, leading to the arrest of a 43-year-old suspect after a standoff at his home. Multiple firearms and ammunition were seized during a subsequent search. As of this date, Oakland had already experienced 31 homicides last year, suggesting an alarming trend.
