Celebrity restaurateurs Marissa and Matt Hermer are opening Bar Issi on June 6 in the Thompson Hotel, Palm Springs, marking their first venture beyond Los Angeles. The restaurant features a visually stunning design influenced by HBO's The White Lotus and the Madonna Inn. Bar Issi is an evolution of their previous concept, Issima, focusing on shareable Italian-Californian dishes like hamachi carpaccio and Sun Gold tomato gazpacho, perfect for the desert heat. The establishment aims to blend luxurious aesthetics with accessible, flavorful cuisine.
Hamachi carpaccio comes with truffle, yuzu, and ponzu, while a Sun Gold tomato gazpacho arrives just in time for Palm Springs' sweltering months.
Bar Issi's original inspiration comes from the short-lived Issima that opened as an indoor-outdoor ground-floor restaurant inside the West Hollywood La Peer hotel.
