YouTube's New Avatar Feature Means You Never Have to Film Yourself Again
"Creators can now create AI avatars of themselves and add them into Shorts. These avatars won't just look like the creator but also include their voice."
"To make an avatar, users simply need to use the 'live selfie' capture process to record their face and voice in the YouTube app."
"YouTube will also automatically delete any avatar that hasn't been active for 3 years. Each video with an AI avatar will clearly be marked to indicate to viewers that artificial intelligence was used."
YouTube is launching a new feature allowing creators to generate AI avatars that resemble them and mimic their voice for Shorts. These avatars can be created using a 'live selfie' capture process in the YouTube app, enabling users to produce 8-second clips. The avatars are exclusive to the creators and can be deleted anytime, with YouTube automatically removing inactive avatars after three years. Each video featuring an AI avatar will be labeled to inform viewers of the use of artificial intelligence. The feature is not available in Europe and requires users to be over 18.
