The National Weather Service has issued winter storm watches across northern Texas, southeast Oklahoma, Arkansas and northern Louisiana, alerting major urban centers of impending hazardous conditions.
Forecasters warned of hazardous travel and potential disruptions to daily life as the storm is approaching, particularly in metropolitan areas such as Dallas-Fort Worth and Little Rock.
Just days after a major winter storm disrupted life in the Midwest, this next storm is expected to combine snow, sleet, ice, and freezing rain in its path.
The storm will kick off Wednesday along the Gulf Coast, moving northeast from Texas to the Carolinas, intensifying as arctic air moves southward, creating dangerous conditions.
