Checking phones if waking up overnight can lead to being more awake, making it harder to fall back asleep. Keeping smartphones out of the bedroom led to better sleep quality.
Using electronic devices in bed for any purpose is linked to less sleep. Avoiding social media an hour before bedtime and keeping devices out of the bedroom are recommended.
