Extremadura in Spain is actively seeking to attract digital nomads with grants up to 15,000 euros to help reverse depopulation. The region, one of the least populated in Spain, plans to encourage remote workers to settle in the area. As of August 2024, the government continues to offer up to 10,000 euros, with 470 applications received and 195 approved as of now. The initiative targets qualified professionals in technology who can work remotely or are self-employed and is open to applicants both in Spain and from abroad. Applications remain open until October 8, 2025.
