The Monterey County Sheriff's Office detailed how Baby Garin was discovered in 1994 by a passerby, emphasizing the long struggle with such heartbreaking cases.
The investigation remained unsolved until 2023 when advancements in forensic genetic genealogy helped identify the baby's mother, leading to Ferreyra's arrest.
Commander Andres Rosas noted that cases of crimes against children are the hardest to investigate and hold heavy emotional weight for law enforcement.
