As a 68-year-old woman whose two children plan not to have children, I am relieved. Climate change is real and accelerating, and I don’t fear what new generations will endure.
Rather than helping to raise grandchildren, I am devoting my time to volunteering in efforts to keep the planet habitable for other elders' future generations.
Being adopted taught me that anyone can become family if there is mutual commitment. I partially feel a responsibility to my traditional Catholic parents to expand our family.
I want to bring joy to my parents who yearn for grandchildren, influenced by my upbringing and my own sense of family responsibility.
