In recent years, E Ink products like Kindle and ReMarkable 2 have gained popularity for their reading and note-taking capabilities, yet their functionality remains limited. Users enjoy the distraction-free experience but may find it restrictive for broader needs. The Boox Page stands out by running a simplified version of Android, allowing users to access apps like Google Keep and Docs, enhancing productivity. However, while the device can theoretically support social media and video apps, the performance on E Ink displays may deter excessive use.
I've mainly enjoyed using the Boox Page because it runs Android. It's a simplified version of the OS but expands the capabilities of an e-reader in just the right amount.
Running on Android also means that, theoretically, you can use Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and more on the Boox Page, but as David Pierce of The Verge mentioned... there's just the right amount of friction.
