Tibetan Thangka Art Museum / AND Studio
Briefly

Six years ago, we were invited to participate in the design of a Thangka Art Museum at the foot of Penbu Mountain in Lhasa, balancing design freedom with tradition.
Drawing inspiration from the Potala Palace, the museum features interconnected volumes along the slope, emphasizing a dialogue with the mountains and the sky.
The visitor routes emphasize the spiritual significance of mountains, with staggered platforms for Thangka viewing and a 'wind tower' for controlled indoor climate and ventilation.
The indoor route reflects modern museum spatial organization, with exhibition halls illuminated by a mix of artificial and natural light, featuring specialized research on exhibition walls.
