The reopening of this Harlem museum is officially one of Time Out's best things to do in the world in 2025
Briefly

"Taken in its entirety, our collection traces, as few institutions can, a history of creativity by artists of African descent that we will continue to nurture far into the future," said Thelma Golden, the museum's director and chief curator.
The reopening will continue on the legacy of the artists, activists, and philanthropists who founded The Studio Museum in 1968 with a goal of addressing the lack of work from Black artists in most prominent corners of the art world.
Now, with a new, expansive building, the studio is reopening with a celebration of sculptor Tom Lloyd, whose work was a part of the institution's first shows in 1968.
Across five stories, the new space provides 82,000 square feet of expanded potential for the well-loved museum.
