The PLUP Pavilion, developed by Nómada Estudio Urbano for ISAD's Desert Workshop 2024, transforms public space with a design inspired by a water droplet's movement. It addresses the scarcity of water in the Chihuahua Desert while honoring the historical significance of Parque Lerdo, which was home to the first aqueduct. The pavilion's handcrafted components create an interactive experience that promotes sustainability, memory, and identity in urban environments. With a focus on participatory design, the installation aims to redefine public spaces through creativity and community involvement.
The PLUP Pavilion transforms public space into an interactive structure referencing water, highlighting sustainability and participatory design while engaging with the historical significance of its site.
Nómada Estudio Urbano's design interprets the movement of a water droplet, creating a pavilion that emphasizes memory, identity, and the critical resource of water.
The pavilion is constructed with over three kilometers of handwoven cords, simulating rainfall motion, which creates an immersive experience that encourages community interaction and sustainability.
PLUP Pavilion not only reimagines the historic fountains of Parque Lerdo but also integrates a circular lifecycle approach with materials that will be reused in future projects.
