In this project, we turned to the philosophy of 'Daegang ()'. While often used in modern Korean to mean 'roughly' or 'in general,' the Chinese characters tell a deeper story: (Great) and (The Main Stay/Head-rope of a Net)."

The project is a 307 m² studio completed in 2025 for an overseas brand focused on delicate fragrances. Lead architect Daekyun Kim worked with a team including Kyungseok Hong, Chul Hwangbo and Kathryn Pell, with project management by Perfumer H. Photographs were taken by Kim Donggyu. The central design challenge was to define a spatial identity that communicates subtlety and refinement appropriate to fragrance retail. The design approach draws on the Korean concept Daegang, using the dual meanings of 'great' and 'main-stay/head-rope of a net' as guiding principles to balance presence and restraint in the space.
