Tribos Studio has ingeniously transformed the iconic Nakagin Capsules, originally designed in 1972 and demolished in 2022, into seaside lodges in Kanagawa. The renovation focuses on encapsulating the principles of Metabolism architecture, which sees buildings as modular and evolving units. The capsules feature wave-like reflective aluminum panels that beautifully interact with light, evoking the sea and sky. This design not only celebrates the dynamic qualities of nature but also preserves the historical significance of the capsules, enhancing both aesthetic appeal and functional accommodation.
tribos studio aims to preserve and reimagine the Nakagin Capsules, transforming them into seaside lodges while honoring the principles of Metabolism architecture.
Reflective aluminum panels in the Nakagin Capsules capture the movement of waves, merging the design with the natural beauty of the seaside surroundings.
