Kengo Kuma designed Christmas trees from timber components that will convert into furniture after the holiday season, showcasing a sustainable approach to architecture.
The first tree, Kigumi, features linear timber pieces from six wood types, while the second tree, Komorebi, uses rounded elements, emphasizing unique designs.
Kuma stated, 'I designed the Christmas tree as an architectural structure... they will live forever... the ideal way of architecture in the future'.
Eiichiro Kato highlighted the project’s appeal, saying, 'Reusing the wood used for the event as furniture aligns with what we cherish daily'.
