'It was a risk-but the response has been great': young gallerists in Southeast Asia on their struggles and successes

Ricky Lee Gordon describes the response to his newly opened gallery, Sun.Contemporary, in Bali as 'unbelievable,' highlighting a growing demand for contemporary art in the region.

Gordon plans to exhibit both local talent and established international artists, with prices of artworks ranging from $500 to $30,000, ultimately nurturing a new art community.

Participating in Art SG, which features galleries less than ten years old, provides an opportunity for Sun.Contemporary to connect with a larger collector base and broaden its visibility.

While operational costs remain low in Bali, Gordon acknowledges the need to attract a more lasting collector demographic as most of his clients are currently transient tourists.
