Hourglass / Dam & Partners Architecten
Briefly

Hourglass is a striking addition to Amsterdam's Zuidas district, seamlessly integrating offices, apartments, and retail spaces while connecting the existing area to the emerging Knowledge Quarter.
Inspired by Romanian artist Constantin Brâncuși, the hourglass shape of the building reflects an innovative architectural concept, emphasizing connectivity and efficient use of urban space.
The faćade features oblique natural stone planes intersected by glass, creating a timeless aesthetic, while the use of warm materials emphasizes the building's monumentality.
With its L-shaped footprint and engaging public spaces, Hourglass fosters urban interaction by strategically placing active lobbies and commercial areas that draw in pedestrians.
