Casa el Pastizal, designed by Diez + Muller, represents a contemporary residence in Machachi, Ecuador, focused on harmonizing modern architecture with its breathtaking surroundings. The architects employ an intuitive design approach that respects the landscape, allowing the structure to organically sink into or rise with the terrain. The experience of approaching the house is crafted thoughtfully, as the entrance invites visitors on a journey that reveals the architecture and the surrounding vistas in a seamless blend. Patios and viewpoints are incorporated to create an intimate relationship with the landscape throughout the dwelling.
Rather than imposing itself on the terrain, the building adapts to it, either sinking gently into the earth or rising and rotating to capture distant views.
Designing Casa el Pastizal, the architects at Diez + Muller position the entrance along a lower point on the land, where a lateral ascent leads visitors toward the house.
