A bridge between worlds: Central Asia's first private Modern and contemporary art museum to open in Kazakhstan
Briefly

Nurlan Smagulov stated, "Art has the power to transform lives, and it once transformed mine. For me, Almaty Museum of Arts is not just a museum; it serves as a bridge that connects Central Asia's vibrant and diverse art with the global cultural scene. Our mission is to create an inspiring space where both the people of Kazakhstan and international visitors can experience contemporary art that resonates with universal human experiences."
The Almaty Museum of Arts will showcase over 700 artworks by Kazakh and Central Asian artists, alongside international pieces like a ceramic mural by Fernand Leger and installations by Richard Serra and Bill Viola.
Designed by Chapman Taylor, the museum's structure will consist of two L-shaped buildings: one symbolizing Almaty's urban environment and the other evoking the nearby Tian Shan mountains, embodying the interplay between the city and nature.
The museum, covering 9,400 sq m, aims to highlight not just the local talent in Kazakhstan but also to establish a cultural dialogue with international art scenes.
