Circular Loop / HaengUnSiWoo Architects
Briefly

The eco-experience center at Gangjeong Cruise Terminal incorporates a loop structure to provide diverse views and enhance accessibility. With its strategic placement between key areas, it promotes interaction with the existing waterside park. Instead of elevating the observation deck, the design expands horizontally, embracing the site's natural terrain. The loop provides varying spatial experiences and integrates the landscape, moving away from a traditional view to a more dynamic interaction with nature. The design also involves reconfiguring existing elements to create cohesive green and walking spaces, offering users enriched scenic experiences.
To achieve this within a limited space, we created a loop structure—a continuous form where the start and end repeat. This loop highlights the existing terrain and circular plaza.
Sometimes high, sometimes low, sometimes equal, the observation deck presents different spatial compositions depending on how it meets the ground.
