Alara, a new Mediterranean restaurant in Georgetown, aims to immerse diners in a rustic beachy atmosphere reminiscent of vacations in the Aegean. With a menu curated by experienced restaurateur Hakan Ilhan, Alara showcases the flavors of Turkey, Greece, and the Levant. The extensive menu features a variety of dishes from mezze to grilled meats, seafood, and housemade desserts, all available a la carte or as part of a prix fixe experience. The establishment seeks to transport patrons from everyday routine through its ambiance and cuisine.
"If the feel of the space, with the food and ambiance, can carry you away from your everyday life, we've achieved our mission," says Hakan Ilhan.
The opening menu covers lunch, dinner, dessert, late-night snacks and weekend brunch, boasting an array of earthy dips, grilled meats, roasted vegetables and seafood.
Ilhan's latest project aims to honor the culture and hospitality of Turkey, Greece, and the Levant region, transporting guests to a rustic Mediterranean feel.
The four-course prix fixe tour ($54.95 per person) is designed to sample key offerings, alongside mezze bundles and a mixed grill meant for sharing.
