""It's just another example of how innovation technology is coming into service of our partners and making sure that we're doing all we can to simplify the operations, make their jobs just a little bit easier-maybe a little bit more fun-so that they can do what they do best," Starbucks' then-chief technology officer Deb Hall Lefevre at the time of its launch."
"The plan is seeing results. Starbucks reported a 4% increase in year-over-year same store sales last quarter, as well as a 5% uptick in quarterly revenue."
Starbucks is launching 'Green Dot Assist,' an AI-powered virtual assistant designed to aid baristas in their tasks and expedite order fulfillment. The technology, developed with Microsoft Azure's OpenAI platform, will be piloted at 35 locations before wider implementation. It will provide drink recipes, ingredient substitutions, food pairing suggestions, troubleshooting support, and staffing assistance. This initiative is part of CEO Brian Niccol's strategy to revitalize Starbucks' brand and improve sales, which have shown a recent increase.
