The Cleveland Browns have added free agent guard Teven Jenkins, previously with the Chicago Bears. Drafted 39th overall in 2021, Jenkins faced challenges including back surgery and multiple injuries that caused him to miss 22 games in his first four years. While he struggled initially, he excelled when healthy, allowing only four sacks in 2024 and playing across multiple positions on the offensive line. Jenkins was open to a contract extension with Chicago, but talks did not occur, leading him to explore free agency. He has made 38 starts in 45 games throughout his career.
Jenkins was eligible for a contract extension last offseason and told reporters that the Bears had said they would engage in talks... Those talks never came to fruition.
When available, Jenkins was arguably Chicago's best offensive lineman (four sacks allowed in 2024), but multiple injuries forced him to miss 22 games.
Originally drafted as a tackle by the Bears former front office, Chicago moved Jenkins from left tackle to right tackle to right guard during the 2022 season.
Jenkins has appeared in 45 games with 38 starts in four seasons.
