RiverRock House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is opened to the public for overnight stays. Located in Willoughby Hills, Ohio, this home represents Wright's final residential commission before his death in 1959. It offers a unique experience for guests to immerse themselves in Wright's architectural genius without the barriers of crowds. Nestled in a serene 30-acre wooded area, RiverRock House blends nature with convenience, being only 15 minutes from downtown Cleveland. Its history is intertwined with the original commission that nearly didn't materialize, highlighting the iconic architect's lasting legacy.
The new rental offers a unique way to "experience his genius for yourself in the way he intended ... by living inside his vision," the site for the home says.
What makes RiverRock House so special is just how close it came to never being realized. Artist and schoolteacher Louis Penfield originally commissioned Wright in 1952 to design Penfield House.
Set in the midst of 30 acres of Lake County woods at 2217 River Road, the cozy home with a wood fireplace makes for an idyllic retreat.
RiverRock House, Wright's final residential commission, according to the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, was built according to the design found on the legend's drawing board at Taliesin West after he died in 1959.
