After a dense fog advisory Thursday morning, weather officials said strong westerly winds were expected up to 40 mph for the afternoon.National Weather Service officials said the advisory covered portions of central, east central, north central and northeast Illinois, and Northwest Indiana.A short period of dense fog was in the area Thursday morning, but conditions were expected to improve.
