Charis Listening Bar, opening next week in Bridgeport, embraces the spirit of community while offering high-fidelity audio experiences. Inspired by Tokyo and NYC's listening bars, owner Alex Jandernoa emphasizes a laid-back, welcoming vibe. The venue, named after Jandernoa's mother, honors the musical tradition of his family. Unlike other bars, Charis doesn't serve food but encourages patrons to bring meals from local eateries. This innovative approach is complemented by a carefully curated drink menu developed by an experienced mixologist. Overall, Charis aims to create a unique blend of music and neighborhood charm.
Our goal is to make Charis cozy, welcoming, and Midwestern nice - but that true Midwestern nice - and also still deliver a high-fidelity audio experience.
Both my parents are big music nerds. Their love language has always been music.
Charis won't serve food, but patrons are welcome to bring in food, citing neighboring restaurants as great options.
I came up to visit Chicago in August and ended up falling in love with the city.
